About Us
Dawn Gunther has called Houston home since she was five, and proudly considers herself a native Houstonian. She graduated from Houston Christian University (formerly Houston Baptist University) with a degree in Biology and Pre-Med and worked for many years in medical imaging as a mammographer, MRI technologist, and radiology technician, where she loved caring for patients. With her deep knowledge of Houston neighborhoods—and her previous experience serving as Social Director for International Focus Magazine, where she interviewed Consuls, Consuls General, and other diplomatic leaders—Dawn recognized a need for a publication in Spring Branch. In 2015, she launched a Spring Branch magazine, soon to be known as Spring Branch Plus Magazine, to connect residents and share stories within a community that previously had no central voice. Since then, the magazine has flourished, thanks to the vibrant and supportive Spring Branch community. Born in Florida, near where Walt Disney World was being built, Dawn grew up watching her family follow Walt Disney’s Sunday-night updates on the progress of the Magic Kingdom (Disneyland and The Wonderful World of Disney). That early exposure sparked a lifelong love of Disney, travel, and family experiences. Today, she co-hosts a weekly Disney podcast, Sharing the Magic, every Sunday night, where she shares Disney insights, nostalgia, and travel tips with fellow fans.

Born out of a love for the Spring Branch community, Spring Branch + was founded to fill a gap: a media voice dedicated solely to this thriving part of Houston. Over the years, we’ve grown from a simple publisher into a full-featured publication, showcasing local culture, commerce, homes, schools, and more.
